Radial Thermal Simulation System

1.8MW, high-capacity radial infrared heating system for advanced aerospace simulation and structural material testing. The system delivers up to 1.8 megawatts of controlled radiant energy across three radial heating zones and one flat-panel zone, enabling precise replication of flight and reentry thermal conditions.

System Overview:

  • Total power: 1.8 MW
    • Three radial zones at 576 kW each
    • One flat-panel heater zone (90 kW) positioned at chamber end for nose cone simulation
  • Designed to uniformly heat cylindrical and conical test articles under controlled, high heat flux conditions
  • Modular build allows selective zone activation for targeted heating profiles

Controls and Data Collection:

  • Equipped with four optical pyrometers for real-time surface temperature feedback
  • Signal isolators support additional feedback integration from:
    • Thermocouples
    • Heat flux sensors
    • RTDs and other process sensors
  • Fully compatible with open-loop or closed-loop control modes for dynamic simulation environments
  • Touchscreen HMI for centralized process control, heater configuration, and profile programming
  • Full ramp/soak recipe management, independent zone control, and interlock status visualization
  • Air and water-cooled distribution manifolds maintain thermal system integrity and safe operation
  • Live process data recording with automatic Excel-compatible export for review and documentation
  • Built-in alarm and system diagnostics for test environment assurance
